Welcome to the Blog!!
hi!!
I really do not have any idea how you discovered this blog, but if you did, I hope I make it worthwhile for you to go through whatever shit I can come up with and put it out for you to read. There are couple of introductory questions I would like to answer before you can actually read some blogs.
What is this blog all about?
I am currently a student, at a top-law university in India. As you could guess, I aspire to be a lawyer. However, it has taken me some time now to really understand what a good lawyer would be. Because there are some notions which I had before getting into my college. Then there was an environment which I got into, which continuously kept on trying to teach me the definition of a a good lawyer (will talk a lot about these in coming blogs), and then there were actual great lawyers I read about, talked to or heard them speak who taught me something about their own perspective to be a good lawyer.
After understanding all these perspectives I have come to understand how badly the environment around me (honestly I assume all law schools are doing this) is misguiding me. There are students who are recklessly following these advises being passed on from people who are frontrunners of a rat-race which started years ago, thinking only about that race and forgetting about their goal of being a lawyer (I am presuming that all law students, actually wish to become good lawyers).
Consider this blog to be from a person who has actively tried to get out of that race, sit at as an audience and identify what mistakes these students are committing, simply because they are refusing to use their own brain. I wish to educate students about possibilities and realities of being a lawyer, instead of a participant of the rat race.
Why even bother reading this blog?
I don't necessarily have an answer to that. As a senior student, I have actually talked to a lot of juniors who are very evidently getting sucked to being a part of that race. Who start with an open mind, but get forced to following a path that was set up by god knows who, but has become a standard path for students who wish to make it "big"!! (idk, I guess getting a gold medal in that race??)
Read this blog, if you wish to even understand what lies outside the race. I plan to talk about my experiences, anecdotes I have heard from my seniors across the field. Lawyers who have actually made it big, before these rat races started. Lawyers who are trying to make it big while BEING A PART of these rat races. I will share stories about lawyers we hear about in landmark cases, lawyers about whom memoirs are written and lawyers who have left a legacy greater than any other.
What will I get if I read this blog?
Couple of jokes. I can promise only this.
Guidance, insights, experiences, realities, etc. are some things which you might get, but please be assured that you will have a good time reading whatever I write, because 2 of my friends have told me in life that I could also do good as a standup comic. (I hope they were right:) )
Thank you if you have even read this much. Consider subscribing to the blog if the idea of leaving that race behind sounds even moderately comforting, innovative, courageous or any other adjective you like.
